He's still got quite a bit of time left, but his own interviews and the discussions of him are already taking an elegiac turn. We feel it's appropriate to include in our remaining time reminders of just what he''s meant to us.
This one's a classic and must never be forgotten. We never tire of it and could watch it all day. Sometimes, in fact, we do. It's the blinking, the look of the puzzled chimp, the smirk, the cameos of the Blair, the Rumsfeld, the Powell, the Rice, and--briefly---a slow-clapping sardonic John Kerry, and the rather eerie conclusion in which the cheering, jamming "Congress" falls silent, his shoulders slump, and he turns away with that bewildered expression he does.
In light of everything, it's weirdly poignant and, in fact, a work of genius, power, and prescience.
