Even fundamentalists don't take it all literally these days---otherwise, a boatload of the ones I know (and I grew up around a boatload of them) would long ago have had to be stoned to death for adultery, fornication, and homosexuality. Even so, some of them---worryingly---are "outraged" that Obama challenged the reliability of some of these precepts.
Do take note of the cut after he says the words "We are no longer a Christian nation....." (Not that, according to some of the most prominent founders, they ever intended for us to be.)
Barack should know better, religion only works when you pick and chose the bits that everyone can agree to. That's how all the great truths are revealed and decided upon; committee.
