by Deb Cupples | In a special report on Afghanistan, CBS News indicated that President Obama is planning to send about 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan, which would mean that about 100,000 troops would be in that country by the end of President Obama's first term.
That was earlier yesterday. Later yesterday, a CBS editor posted a note, stating:
"Reports that President Obama has made a decision about Afghanistan are absolutely false. He has not received final options for his consideration, he has not reviewed those options with his national security team, and he has not made any decisions about resources. Any reports to the contrary are completely untrue and come from uninformed sources."
This is sort of like watching Forrest Gump play ping-pong. I guess we'll see what happens.
Like I done told you people before, more troops to Afghanland depends on which way the weathervane's pointing on any particular day. Bammy's doing his best to vote "Present" on this one. He wrote, in Foreign Affairs magazine, in the summer of 2007, "We must refocus our efforts on Afghanistan and Pakistan -- the central front in our war against al-Qaida -- so that we are confronting terrorists where their roots run deepest... Success in Afghanistan is still possible, but only if we act quickly, judiciously, and decisively."
Yep. Quickly, judiciously, and decisively. You read that right.
