by Deb Cupples | The reports that Democrat Al Franken is 50 votes ahead of Republican Norm Coleman at this point in the recount. Even if state officials certify the election and declare Franken the winner, chances are that litigation will ensue.
According to the Minneapolis-St.Paul Star Tribune, Coleman wants to reconsider the 654 absentee ballots that local officials said were properly rejected: they were from areas known to have more Republican voters. Franken wants to focus on the 1,346 ballots that were improperly rejected -- which came from areas that tended to have more Democrat voters.
This cheery-picking seems to be following the course of Florida's recount in 2000.
Light bulb (the new fangled, twisty kind)! Why don't they take another look at both sets of ballots? Memeorandum has commentary.
