Yesterday, Timothy D. Johnson went to the Arkansas Democratic Party offices and killed state party chairman Bill Gwatney (48) (New York Times). Our condolences to Mr. Gwatney's family and friends.
Mr. Johnson fled in his truck. Law enforcement officers chased him and caught up. Reportedly, Mr. Johnson got out of his truck and started shooting, so law enforcement shot and killed him.
A witness reported that Mr. Johnson had lost his job. Law enforcement hasn't established a motive for the shooting. Apparently, Mr. Johnson did not know Mr. Gwatney. Memeorandum has commentary.
