by Deb Cupples | After 52 former state attorneys general asked Congress to investigate the prosecution of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman -- after 60 Minutes did a story on the questionable prosecution -- Siegelman was released from prison. That was nearly two years after he'd first went to prison.
While Siegelman was appealing his sentence, the prosecutor decided to cross appeal, asking for Siegelman's sentence to be increased to 30 years. Yesterday, the prosecutor announced that his office would drop the appeal to increase the sentence -- without explaining why. The Associated Press has the story (via Memeorandum).
The 60 Minutes video is after the jump. It begins with this question: "Is Don Siegelman in prison because he's a criminal or because he's in the wrong political party in Alabama?"
all of this sounds real fishy to me? what says u?

HI RawDawg,
Yes, it does sound fishy. I wonder if the prosecutors are making a deal to try to keep Siegelman from pushing the political-prosecution question.
Or maybe the prosecutor fears what the court will learn from Siegelman's appeal documents.
Who knows with these people?
