by D. Cupples | A new ABC/Washington Post poll indicates that 67% of the Democrats surveyed (nearly half of whom support Obama) want Hillary Clinton to stay in the race even if she loses in Texas or Ohio today, while only 29% say she should drop out. I'd like to see more polls on this question.
Even more interesting, if Barack Obama wins the nomination, 36% of Dems want him to pick Hillary as his running mate: 11% would want John Edwards; 3%, Bill Richardson; 1%, Al Gore; and 1%, Joe Biden.
Some media outlets, bloggers and political big-wigs have been calling for Clinton to drop out after Tuesday if she doesn't score big wins -- despite the fact that Pennsylvania (whose primary is April 22) has more delegates than Ohio.
Some people even called for Hillary to drop out before Today (e.g., Newsweek's Jonathan Alter).
The poll was conducted February 28 - March 2 and includes 629 survey participants who call themselves Democrats or Democrat-leaning independents.
