by D. Cupples | Yesterday, Florida Democrats elected district-level delegates to attend the August national convention. BN-Politics' own Woman of Mass Discussion (as her husband calls her) was elected as a delegate, along with others, for Florida's 6th congressional district. [Results from other districts should be posted at http://www.fladems.com/.]
Despite some media's attempts to portray the Democratic race as a virtual blood bath, I did not witness a single fist fight at the Marion County Democratic Party headquarters in Ocala, where the caucus was held.
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton each got two delegates (a man and a woman), and John Edwards got one (a woman):
Clinton.....................Obama...................Edwards
Staci Fox..................Susan Bottcher....... .Debbie Boyd
Jimmy Johnson........ Rick Perry --
Heracio Sierra (alt.) -- --
The delegates will travel to Denver in August at their own expense.

Incidentally, Florida's sixth congressional district stretches about 100 miles and includes bits of 8 counties: Alachua, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Ghilchrist, Lake, Levy, and Marion.
The rather odd shape is the result of redistricting by the largely Republican state legislature (map below). More recently, it was Florida's largely Republican legislature that moved Florida's Democratic primary to January 29, which is what caused the national-level Democratic party to strip Florida of its delegates.
