by D. Cupples | Pre-election polls don't necessarily reflect how voters will actually vote (e.g., some polls before the California and New Hampshire primaries). Because many people enjoy looking at polling data (and I like to create a record, so I can look back and see how far off some polls were), I've listed below some data from recent polls re: the Democratic primaries in Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania.
OHIO (March 4)
...........Rasmussen....SurveyUSA....Ohio Poll....PPP....Quinnipiac....ARG
Clinton.......48%................50%................47%...........50%........51%............49%
Obama.......43%.................44%................39%............46%.........40%............39%
TEXAS (March 4)
...........Rasmussen....Insider Advtg.....Survey USA....PPD......CNN
Clinton......44%....................47%.................45%.............48%......46%
Obama......48%....................43%.................49%.............48%......50%
.
PENNSYLVANIA (April 22)
................Rasmussen..........Quinnipiac
Clinton............46%........................49%
Obama.............42%........................43%
If you're interested in polls purporting to show how the Democratic candidates are doing nationwide against each other (and against McCain), see Pew's latest poll and the tables at Real Clear Politics.
Update: Zogby just released polls re: support for the Democratic candidates in Ohio and Texas -- yes, the same Zogby whose pre-primary polls showed Hillary Clinton losing New Hampshire by about 12 points and California by 13.
Clinton ended up winning California by about 9 points and new Hampshire by 2 points. Anyway, below are Zogby's recent numbers:
..................Ohio..........Texas
Clinton........44%...........42%
Obama........42%...........48%
I don't mean to suggest that Zogby's current polls are wrong -- they could end up being right. We'll find out sometime after the polls close on Tuesday.

YOU MIGHT BE AN IDIOT:-)
If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary's than they had ever been before or since.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..
You Might Be An Idiot!
If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)
Best regards

I can't tell where you're coming from, but I enjoyed reading your comments! the post on which you commented didn't argue for either candidate but instead merely 1) described what some of the polls are indicating, and 2) pointed out that polls aren't always right.
