by Damozel | Hahahahahahahahahahaha! As an Edwards supporter, I am disappointed; as a Hillary-lover and a woman, I am quite thrilled. Plus she made a very stirring speech that gave me a chill or two. Yay, Hillary!
The experts were also wrong about Huckabee and McCain (the only Republican I can really stomach, though I certainly don't want him to become president). Teh Nutroots, who was enjoying the GOP pundits panic, will be crushed, but maybe the Hillary upset---which they won't like---will make up to him for it. All this demonstrates what D Cupples keeps saying: the polls, the pundits, and the prophets are basically worthless. You can listen to the pundits Monday morning-quarterbacking all you want. Iowa is not New Hampshire; New Hampshire is not North Carolina. Shut up, pundits and prophets. When you've got three great candidates (Dems) and a field of candidates nobody much likes (GOP), anything can happen!
Except for Kevin Drum. Let's hear from Kevin Drum, who has "several reasons for being pleased with the results."
HILLARY'S WIN....I have several reasons for being pleased with the results of tonight's Democratic primary:.... [here are three of them]
Hillary Clinton's victory felt to me an awful lot like a repudiation of the mainstream pundits who spent the entire weekend first dumping all over her and then playing the "Hillary in tears" tape on practically a continuous loop yesterday. As Matt Yglesias said, "I don't think pissing off Chris Matthews is a good enough reason to pull the lever for Clinton, but I can certainly understand the impulse." Me too.
Oh, me too. It's the primary reason for my glee. (Did I mention I'm an Edwards supporter?)
Hillary's victory should amp up Andrew Sullivan into even greater feats of CDS hysterics than we've seen so far. If that's possible. In any case, he seems to thrive on a state of constant agitation and stomach-churning nausea, so I figure Hillary's victory is probably good for him.
Ah, poor Andrew Sullivan; I didn't think about that. I think a Hillary victory may kill him, and since I kind of like him, I'd hate that. But he'll just have to sack up. I don't have any ill will toward him; I'm way more excited to see what the guys at the Corner and Michelle Malkin have to say. Yes, and Joe Klein.
There's now a pretty good chance that, for the first time in my life, my vote in a Democratic primary will actually be meaningful. And it only took 30 years!
Amen!

I really want to see how this effects voters online and how it might impact the next primaries. Honestly - a couple months ago every pundit was certain of the clinton win, then going into last night they were certain of the Obama victory. Today I think they're happy that they're wrong so that they don't look dumb for being more dumb. I'll stick to results and voter generate stuff like fittobepres.com from now on I think.
