I first heard of Greg Kendall Ball (currently of Abilene,West Texas) when this incident got his name known all over the internet. After I posted about the incident on my former blog he emailed me; as a result, we became internet acquaintances. When I enrolled in Flickr, he named me as a contact, and I've been receiving his amazing photographs ever since.
Greg says in his Flickr profile, " I am in graduate school studying theology, preparing for something..." Of his photography, he writes:
My focus is on humanitarian/social issue photography, using the medium to highlight worthy causes, raise awareness and as a form of advocacy.
I have a special interest in Africa, as my experiences in South Africa and Rwanda were what sparked my interest in using photography as a tool for social change.
The photographs below are the ones he selected when I asked if he would allow us to use 13 of his favorite photos for a photo essay. When I opened the set he kindly created I was astonished not only by the photographs but by the color scheme: a harmony of silvers and celestial blues (with touches of red) which suddenly burst into shocking color midway through with his photograph---one of my favorites---of a war protester from a band of students from Abilene Christian University (see other photographs of the protest here). From that point there is an intense flood of earthly light and color, which then fades back into gold, rapidly encroached on by silver and end with an ethereal vision of a South African landscape. I put them up in exactly the order in which he presented them. I did not include the captions since I didn't want to interrupt the progression. (To see his captions, click on the photo link).
Enjoy! .

Wow, those are awesome shots, and I do agree with you about the colour scheme. I love #7 particularly, but they are all great. Happy TT.

These are great photos - amazing choices. I think my favorite is the floor pattern shot. The photo itself is art - the floor is art. Love it.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment at Workerette on the organization post. You have a great point about all that paper! Organizing systems and products are all for naught if the person who has them doesn't choose to use them. I'm the opposite of you - my computer files are probably atrocious, but my paper ones are immaculate. *chuckle* I am also the sort to prefer paper books over e-books. (Which I have, but can't find, due to the previous point. haha)

An awesome photographic essay. A glimpse here, a look there. A walk through the mind of what catches the eye of a single photographer. Thank you for bringing this artist to us, and that him for being willing to share.

These are all just breathtaking, and you're right - the presentation is perfect. I think Tethered Angel is my favorite, but it's difficult to choose.
