Posted by D. Cupples | The latest Zogby poll indicates that 52% of 1,028 surveyed likely voters support a U.S. military strike against Iran (5.8% are unsure). The breakdown:
% Supporting Strike
Republicans 71%
Democrats 41%
Independents 44%
It would be fascinating to know why there's a glaring difference between Republicans and Democrats. Do they have different memories of the Iraq war lead-up? Rely on different news sources? Drink from different water supplies?
This poll was released one day after a CNN interview with Atomic Energy Agency director Mohamed ElBaradei, who said that the IAEA "cannot give Iran a pass right now," but the U.S. hasn't provided concrete evidence that Iran has an active "weaponization" program or the nuclear materials needed. It's less than 4 minutes: check it out.

Seriously, what is wrong with people? Even if the Bush Administration didn't have a history of lying to get the country into war (which I believe the majority of Fox viewers still do not believe), we do not have the manpower or equipment to support an attack on another country. We are actively involved in two wars were we are getting our butts kicked and we are likely to run out of soldiers to send to the field for those two. How can we possibly even think about involving ourselves militarily in anything else? Who's going to fight it?

As usual, J. Lynne, you make excellent points. Re: the troop shortage, I suspect the Administration intends to get around that by using air strikes -- or maybe these people have a draft in mind.
