Posted by The Crux | Last week, a grand jury handed down a 32-count indictment against major Republican donor Alan Fabian (Justice Dept.). Before that, Fabian was presidential candidate Mitt Romney's national finance committee co-chairman.
Rudy Giulani's campaign spokesperson wasted no time trying to make hay, stating:
"We are returning the contribution Romney's national finance co-chair gave Rudy Giuliani." (The Hill)
While clever and amusing, it was a cheap shot. Candidates likely have no idea of their supporters' criminal activities until after indictments come out.
Anyway, Giuliani didn't need to take that swipe, because Romney already has serious image problems -- like his publicly implying that his military-aged sons are helping our nation (like the soldiers risking their lives in Iraq are) by campaigning for their dad.
And frankly, Giuliani's walls seem to be made of glass, what with those firefighters slamming him for trying to depict himself as a 9/11-hero, when the firefighters think his leadership was pitiful (see video).
It's no wonder that presidential candidate Ron Paul is becoming so popular, though major media are ignoring Paul's rise in the polls (BN-Politics).
For those who are curious, the Justice Department said this about the Fabian indictment:
"A grand jury indicted Alan Brian Fabian, age 43, of Cockeysville, Maryland, for mail fraud, money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, perjury and obstruction of justice arising out of a scheme to defraud an equipment leasing company, financial institutions and a government consulting company of $32 million...."
