Former Scotland Yard detective John O'Connor expressed doubt yesterday about the prevalent notion in the U.S. media that the foiled bombings in Britain over the weekend were tied to al-Qaeda (see video clip below, thanks to Talking Points Memo for pointing it out).
If O'Connor is right about al Qaeda's not having been involved, what about Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff's report -- the one that was kept secret for two weeks and reportedly suggested an al Qaeda "terror spectacular" this summer? (See ABC News) Might the intelligence be flawed?
