Today, the U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote on a no-confidence resolution re: Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, which is largely a symbolic gesture. The concise resolution states:
"It is the sense of the Senate that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales no longer holds the confidence of the Senate and of the American people."
The resolution came about because evidence suggests that Gonzales' Justice Department has been used to promote partisan political agendas. It didn't help that Gonzales said some variation of "I don't recall" more than 60 times while testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee about the questionable firing of nine U.S. Attorneys.
