Despite Presidential cries of "pure political theater," the U.S. Senate will hold a "no confidence" vote on Monday re: U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales --unless he resigns first (CNN).
Since the fired U.S. attorney scandal erupted, numerous senators and representatives have called for Gonzales to resign or asked President Bush to fire him, including Republicans [e.g., John Sununu (R-NH), Marilyn Musgrove (R-CO), and Chuck Hagel (R-NB)]. According to The Hill, Senator Chuck Schumer commented, "If all senators who have actually lost confidence in Attorney General Gonzales voted their conscience, this vote would be unanimous.”
