Hamas to Give Amnesty to Captured Leaders
The Washington Post reports: "Victorious Hamas gunmen rounded up senior military leaders of the Fatah movement in the Gaza Strip early Friday, then announced a general amnesty in a sign the Islamic movement is seeking to reconcile with its secular rivals after five days of fierce fighting."
Anger over Senator's Criticism of War Officials
Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) told a gaggle of bloggers during a conference call that Gen. Peter Pace failed to give Congress a candid assessment on the Iraq war and that Gen. Court Says OK to Sue Ashcroft & Mueller
The U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against former Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller, saying a Pakastani man may sue both men over abuse he suffered while detained after 9/11. The man said "he was subjected to repeated strip searches, beaten, [and] dragged across the floor." (Reuters/Truthout) Before being deported, the man was imprisoned for having false Social Security papers and writing bad checks.
