Mike Elston, top aide to Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty, announced his resignation on Friday. Elston was involved in the perhaps-politically-motivated firing of U.S. attorneys.
Several of the fired U.S. attorneys accused Elson of threatening them after the fact: essentially saying, either be quiet about why you were fired, or we'll say nasty things about you to the press. (AP/CBS) Elson denied intending any threat.
