A May 11 indictment added charges against former CIA official Kyle “Dusty” Foggo and defense contractor Brent Wilkes from 11 to 30 counts, including fraud and money laundering. Foggo and Wilkes played high school football together and remained friends for decades. The new indictment alleges that Foggo:
“pushed a proposed $100 million government contract for his best friend in return for lavish vacations, private jet flights and a lucrative job offer . . . . Foggo provided Wilkes with ‘sensitive, internal information related to our national security,’ including classified information.” (AP/BostonGlobe)
According to the February 2007 indictment, Foggo helped Wilkes get a no-bid contract to supply water in Iraq.
The charges stemmed from the investigation of former Congressman Duke Cunningham (R-CA), who relocated to prison in 2006 after taking $2.4 million in contractor bribes.
Foggo retired in 2006, after a dramatic federal raid on his home—percussion provided by news helicopters circling overhead . A Congo line of federal entities investigated Foggo, including the FBI, US Attorneys Office, and IRS.
