President Bush is getting punched out by public opinion, according to a new CBS/New York Times poll. The results: 60% of participants think the U.S. should have stayed out of Iraq and 75% think the war is going badly--despite the fact that, four years ago, our flight-suit-clad President stood on an aircraft carrier and proclaimed that we'd won the war.
Four years and $400 billion-plus later, the public doesn't seem to buy it. The poll further indicates that 63% of participants disapprove of Bush's overall job performance and a majority think Bush is mis-handling the already-won war. The poll was released on the same day that Congress passed a "deadline-free war funding bill" (Washington Post).
