Contractor Boeing's Workers to Strike, CEO Still Fat

Dcupples by Deb Cupples The Chicago Tribune reports:

"A last-ditch effort by Boeing Co. to avert a strike by its largest union has failed and the workers who build its airplanes are set to walk off the job shortly after midnight.

"This would mark the second time in three years that the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents about 27,000 Boeing employees, has initiated a work stoppage at Chicago-based Boeing."

The combined compensation of Boeing CEO James McNerney for the last three years was more than $50 million -- and that's just one executive.  How many machinists' could get raises if Mr. McNerney would simply cut his personal compensation in half.

And From where does Boeing get a big chunk of its money?  From us taxpayers.

Every year since 2003, Boeing has been the second largest federal contractor, receiving more than $109 billion in U.S. government contracts over the last six fiscal years (USASpending.gov).

Surely, Boeing can afford to take care of the hardworking machinists and other workers who make Boeing's billions in government contracts possible.
