Fight Back Against ABC's Ridiculous (& Pointless) Innuendo Against Hillary
Posted by Damozel | Whereas MSNBC is becoming, as D Cupples put it, Fox News for Obama supporters, ABC News seems to be aiming for the soapy, dopey tabloid slot. After reviewing 11,000 pages of Hillary schedules from her tenure as first lady, it published this great revelation: she was in the White House on that semen-stained and fateful day when Bill was having his libido serviced by Lewinsky.
I'm sorry; what? Also: And? What's that got to do with...anything at all?
Sigh.. You know what? Though this makes me feel bad for Hillary as a sister woman and wife---she really didn't need more humiliation on this score---I really don't care. Back in the day, Bill was all about the cheap sexual thrills and by now we all know that. But he is her husband. It's her business, not mine. And it's his scandal, not hers. And obviously she's made her peace with it---as a woman who loves her husband and her family does. What serious person is interested in this additional, and irrelevant, detail?
At the centrist blog Donklephant, in a piece called "ABC News' Gutter Journalism"--- Justin Gardner says:
Why it matters if Hillary was in the White House during Bill’s tryst with Lewinsky is beyond me. And yet this is the lead for ABC News story on the release of Hillary’s records as First Lady.
Not only that, they have a picture of the dress. That’s right. They even made up a new name for the day: ‘Stained Blue Dress’ Day.
Brian Ross is the reporter behind this garbage and he should be truly ashamed of himself.
Hillary doesn’t deserve this. Not then and not now.
At Suburban Guerilla, Susie Madrak writes:
In all my years in journalism, I’ve never seen anything quite as disgusting as this.
And I know some of you will snicker, because it “only” hurts Hillary Clinton.
And you would be wrong about that.
The enemy isn’t Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. It’s the corporate media.
And if we let them get away with this, they will do even worse to whoever turns out to be our nominee. You can bet on that.
I left a voicemail for ABC News’ Brian Ross, who is the head of their Investigative Unit. His phone number is 212-456-7612.
I suggest you share your opinion of his “work.” You can call him, or you can send an email message here. (One of my readers says you can reach him directly at Brian.E.Ross@email.disney.com.)
The commenters at her blog added the following:
Mad Martigan wrote: "Wow, 11 year old news. Not much else going on in the world? What a thing to dredge up."
Roxanne added: "It’s too bad ABC didn’t spend this much effort combing through Colin Powell’s testimony before the UN."
Nicteis wrote: "Well, here’s one Obama supporter who fully agrees with Susie that this is the Authoritarian Buttkissing Corporation sunk to an all time panty-sniffing low....[I]t sure has been one long massive self-indictment by the media. And it should shame anyone who has ever picked up the poo of any of their titillated smears, rehashed non-scandal scandals, or misogynistic “analyses” of character, and flung it at this dedicated, charming, and inspirational woman in the heat of political emotion.
It’s a self-indictment they will do their best to top in the general, regardless of who we finally nominate.
skippy the bush kangaroo writes:
in essence, the abc piece simply posits in bold, 45 point font headlines, that hillary clinton was in the white house the day monica lewinski was getting her blue dress stained by bill.....on this anniversary date of an illegal, immoral and agressive war, during a time when the economy is folding under the weight of predatory lending and capitalistic usury, the last thing that needs to be news is the clintons' marriage woes (and bill's sexual peccadillos).
please call brian ross....abc news an email.
But dday at Hullabaloo had the best line:
You could bust a guy for sexual deviancy just for the work it took to produce this swill.
